Please take a moment to read through our vision statement to get an idea of the kind of art we're interested in bringing to the table.

FEAST is a single-genre journal, accepting only unpublished poetry and short essays on the craft of poetry. Upon acceptance, we retain first serial rights. All other rights revert to the author upon publication.

You may send up to five (5) poems.

[We accept poems in languages other than English, if accompanied by an English translation.]
[We accept accompanying photographs and other pieces of visual art if they have a direct and necessary relationship with the submitted poem.]

We additionally encourage each poet to write a short craft essay* to offer readers an intimate and educational look at the relationship between a writer and his or her process. It can be as brief as a single paragraph or as long as two 12-font, single-spaced pages. This is entirely voluntary; it is not required for submission.

Your essay can be an intended counterpart to your submitted work (an exploration of some of the paths you traveled during the creation process), a compilation of thoughts, theories, focused ideas and generalized comments about the craft of poetry and writing as a whole, or both. If nothing else, it should be mindfully composed and capable of bringing a reader into your world for the purpose of vicarious learning. An accounting of process can function as a stepping-stone to those in whom poetry is about to be born, so offer the reader your shoes.

IMPORTANT: We are interested only in essays composed as carefully as your poetry. Drawn scenes and details are encouraged. We are looking for serious, honest essays that examine specific issues regarding the creation of poetry and that have something vital to say about the practice of writing.

* Please do not submit a craft essay without at least three accompanying poems.

* Please note that all craft essays will appear apart from the poems, in an effort to foster an unbiased poem-reading environment. They will be presented as a separate category in the web version of FEAST, and as a secondary collection at the back end of the print version.
